In the area of sustainable water management our new Water Centre, with stage 1 completed early in 2009, is the only facility of its type in Melbourne and allows staff to undertake specialist compliance training and learn civil construction skills such as pipe-laying, trenching and shoring. This installation will expand still further in 2011 with the launch of a pioneering $10m multi-purpose facility that will set a new standard for water industry training in Australia.
Conservation and Land Management is of key importance for Australia and our service provision in this area is second to none. We take a holistic approach, accommodating the needs of organisations with responsibility for the management, protection and maintenance of a wide variety of environments including national and coastal parks, reserves and conservation zones. Employees gaining skills at our training centres will benefit from learning in one of our superb real-world training environments, including a natural wetlands area and wildlife haven and corridor. Special care is taken to introduce industry productivity practices and to integrate the latest technology into programs.
Our training in Amenity Horticulture is centred on constructed landscapes and public and private gardens. We use the latest machinery and our facilities include extensive training facilities for practical work, industry-standard nursery production facilities, turf management.
We offer a full suite of courses and training resources for businesses involved in Production Horticulture – such as vineyards and orchards – including industry-standard hydroponic facilities and fully irrigated field crop growing areas.
Sustainability is supported across all industry sectors. Chisholm has specialist skills in alternative fuel technologies, lean manufacturing, renewable energies and sustainable management practices.
